Marya Burgess always knew that she had a book to write. Her Polish mother’s account of life in 1930s Warsaw, before the War which tore the family apart and initiated a decades-long search for a lost sister… this was a story that deserved a wider audience. Throughout her career at the BBC, as a radio reporter and Sony Award-winning producer, she made various attempts. But it wasn’t until she left London, got a dog and moved to rural Angus, that she finally found a way to tell it. Finding Ida is her debut novel but, having discovered the freedom of fiction after a lifetime in journalism, she’s determined it won’t be her last.
